Bill Anthony, after 25 years of corporate and advisory experience, was increasingly being invited to coach executives on a one to one basis. Bill's distinct experience is with senior managment in private companies, often PE or VC backed, and his deep expertise with family businesses. He is particulaly adept in conflict management, relationship building and seeing the bigger picture. Every coaching scenario is bespoke and entirely confidential.

 

Situational examples where Bill has been brought into assist include:

  • supporting business owners who can feel isolated with their multitude of pressures without having to reveal vulnerability;

  • developing senior executives to step up to the reponsibilties of being a Board Director with increased accountabilty and scrutiny;

  • helping owner directors smoothly transition into employee roles after the sale of their companies;

  • resolving conflict between shareholders and directors, with particular focus on navigating the complexities involved when more than two counter parties are involved.

Coaching is a serious investment which must be structured so as to get the right results, or growth, for the individual coachee. So whilst personalised in nature, each coaching assignment will likely entail three stages with different emphases:

INITIAL CONTEXT
  • Some getting to know some history and the foundations on which we need to build

  • Emphasis on understanding strengths, building confidence in why we are here

  • Exploration of key stresses, anxieties, frustrations and also perceived weaknesses

  • Mapping of the current operating constraints, ie: the environment

  • Better appreciation of family circumstances and Personal Values

TROUBLE SHOOTING
  • This inevitably means bringing in the pressing problem to resolve 

  • Spending some time unpacking this, understanding why there is difficulty

  • Assessing priorities, splitting up the larger ones, perhaps identifying quick wins 

  • Better understanding needs of other stakeholders and their stated needs

  • Improving communications, varying to make more appropriate or impactful

BIGGER PICTURE
  • Some focus to strategy is essential, helps to make tactical actions more effective

  • Can be worth devising a roadmap, chart progress and sustain motivation for change

  • Identification of work-ons, appreciation of the costs but also the rewards

  • Reminder to integrate Personal Goals, and also happiness

  • Being mindful to build and also manage Personal Brand
